Ambikeshwar Mahadev Temple is an ancient Shiva temple located in Amer, Jaipur district. This temple has great religious and historical significance and is an important pilgrimage site for regional devotees.

History
The history of Ambikeshwar Mahadev Temple is linked to the Dwapar era. According to local belief, Lord Krishna and Nand Baba worshipped Lord Shiva at this place. It is also said that the Mundan Sanskar of Lord Krishna took place here.
According to a popular legend, a cow used to pour milk at a particular place here every day. King Kakildev got this place excavated, and a Swayambhu Shivlinga appeared from there. After this, the king got the temple constructed at this place.
Temple architecture
Ambikeshwar Mahadev Temple is a classic example of Indian architecture. The temple stands on 14 pillars and houses a Swayambhu Shivalinga in its sanctum sanctorum. There is also an ancient Nandi statue inside the temple, which is believed to be around 3000 years old.
At certain times of the year, especially during the month of Saavan, the temple area gets submerged in water, when the water level reaches around 8 feet in the sanctum sanctorum.
Religious significance
There is a huge crowd of devotees here during Mahashivratri, the month of Sawan. Additionally, it is also a major pilgrimage site for other Hindu communities, where devotees worship Lord Shiva and receive blessings.
submergence
The specialty of Ambikeshwar Mahadev temple is that during the month of Saavan, due to heavy rainfall, the temple premises get submerged in water. During this time, the scene of natural Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva can be seen, which devotees consider a divine experience.
